Are you up to date on your immunizations? Adults need a tetanus vaccination every 10 years. The last 4 years we have been giving the tetanus vaccine that also covers for diphtheria. If you have or are around young children, it is very important that you get that vaccination. Whooping cough is being seen more in the community and young children get severely ill if they contract it. Other vaccines to think about for young adults are Hepatitis A and Influenza (we are still giving that vaccine right now). People over 60 should consider the vaccine for shingles and the pneumonia vaccine for those over 65. Ask your doctor if you have any concerns about your immunization status.
